A day in the life of a fool

An armed policeman nearly walked under my car today and thanked me for not running him down.

'That's alright,' I answered, 'I make it a point not to upset people carrying machine guns.'

'Right, then you won't mind the scratch my gun just made on your bonnet.'

If the boss discovers it he'll never believe me.

I've been tagged by Donna Yates to insert a paragraph from my writing which includes the word "Look."

Here it is and comes from my almost ready new novel: Three Hoodies Save The world 2

‘The ratbag tore my hoodie. Look!’ He gazed sorrowfully down to the scene of said heinous crime. Neither David nor Derrick could see what he was talking about. His hoodie was made of Yak skin or something equally exotic and looked, as usual, as if it had been dipped into a bucket of sick. Whilst coating the front, several unidentifiable stains had coalesced into one great puky blob that looked distinctly toxic. While all agreeing that there could be no more suitable a recipient for gratuitous pain and injury there was also an appreciable element of danger in the concept. And probably quite a lot of trouble from the police if he pulled it off. His mum and dad might not be overly impressed either.

More nonsense from my teenage heroes.

  1. Good choice. Funny. These three boys are such great fun to read about.
Quite the incident you had earlier. Should have taken a quick pic.

    1. It wasn't funny at the time and photos of policemen are frowned upon - especially by those carrying Hekler and Koch's.

    1. Unfortunately the paragraph doesn't make much sense unless you've read the preceding one, but that didn't have a "look" in it.
Yes, the days of the Bobby carrying nothing over here are almost gone, thank goodness.

  3. Interesting incident with the police! And interesting excerpt, especially the description of the hoodie "dipped in a bucket of sick." That image really stays with one. Take care, Roger!

  4. Thank you, Lena. Unfortunately I should have added the paragraph before so that it makes sense, but that would have been breaking the rules.

  5. Ooh, you tagged me! I'll have to go searching. I'm editing for clients this week so I haven't even looked at my own work.

I've never seen a Yak skin hoodie!
