Continuing with the book trailer.

I've been learning this Microsoft Movie maker all day and I've achieved 38 seconds of footage so far. With an average trailer lasting two minutes, I've still got a way to go.

I found a site where I can get a few sounds and some tracks for free provided I give them a link on my blog, which seems fair. I've also discovered that MS Movie Maker is a little primitive. Lots of transitional effects and the like but not much else and I'm too far down the line to go back and try another piece of software. So I've decided to forgo the writing until it's finished. I can write forever, but the chance of free promotion might not be around for that long.

I can do average but I'll probably get about ten hits. I want to do something above average. I think I've started out the right way. Now all I've got to do is find some more sound effects. I can't afford the $150 for proper music, not when the lawn mower is broken, and my daughter's car and a hundred things around the house. So I'll just have to keep looking.

In a couple of days I'll post the trailer on my blog before submitting it to YouTube and Booktrailers, for your consideration.

  1. It takes a while to get used to. My son makes lego stop motion movies with it. He laughs now at my attempts to show him how to use it when he first started. He looks on Youtube a lot to get tutorials on how to use things and has become much more proficient by following the advice of more experienced people.

  2. I realise that I have to do this if I'm to get any attention, so I'm not writing any more until I've cracked it.

  5. This is all good to know. Figures Microsoft would only give free a primitive version.
