Finished chapter 16

I'm sure there's a book gremlin. If there is, then he really hates me.

I've reached chapter sixteen of my penultimate edit of Hoodies 2 and there have been so many mistakes. Donna Yates found about a hundred and I've gone through it so many times I feel dizzy, yet they keep on appearing. I think aforementioned gremlin is booting up my computer at night and dancing over the keyboard. So in the continuing hope of refusing to be thwarted, I'll continue. I've decided that when I've finished this edit, I'll go over it again; this time just looking at the words but not as readable entities.

Some might say, including my wife, that all my novels are non-readable entities, but I think I've nearly taken care of the tense errors, the plot drifts, and the complete nonsense. This time I'll just be looking for errant punctuation marks, of which there seem to be numerous, arrogantly flaunting themselves all over the page.

  1. Sometimes I think you can look at something too much and get boggled by it. Maybe you should have a break from this one for a little bit and then go back to it with a fresh pair of eyes. (Unleash some more death and destruction in your Kongamato sequel perhaps?)

  2. I'll finish this edit then, as you say, unleash hell. If that aussie actor hadn't said it first I could have used it - a pity really.

  3. Try reading it backwards, one sentence or paragraph at a time.

  4. That's the plan. I've been practising for a couple of days. It's difficult but definitely worth a shot.

  5. That gremlin also plagues me. Donna recently found about thirty in Shades of Gray (I asked her to, LOL!) and i don't know how many times/people edited it!

  6. I'm just going to ignore it. Three Hoodies 2 will be completely devoid of mistakes.

  7. Isn't it fun? They need to build a software that has an annoying beep when there's a misspelling or wrong grammar, etc. maybe that would get our attentions to our mistakes.

  8. If that were built into my computer I'd be insane within an hour.
