Interstellar women's lib.

I decided, perhaps unwisely, that my heroes in Hoodies Three should meet some strong women to remind them that they aren't the coolest in the galaxy.

One of my lads is just about to get his first kiss from his first, ever girlfriend when they're arrested by an intergalactic policewomen, police person.

‘Are you ready?’ she enquired brightly, decrying her last assertion. ‘Not that it really matters. Whether you come or not, you’re still in trouble. But if you come willingly you might just talk the council into giving you a lighter sentence.’ The way she said it left them in no doubt of its extreme unlikelihood, or her casual manner which made it all the more frightening.
‘Derrick’s in real trouble. We should go.’ David said quietly.
‘What council? What d’you mean, sentence? We’ve done nothing except save a couple of worlds, including this one from invasion. Should’ve got a medal.’ And what's gonna happen to Derrick; is someone gonna kill him?’ Sad-case’s fright was making him mouthy as usual.
‘Oh no, something much more serious than that.’ She spared a brief glimpse at Sarah who'd still said nothing since her first strangled eeeekk, and in truth both boys had almost forgotten about her. ‘She’ll have to come as well. I don’t know who she is but as she’s here, and seen me, she’ll have to come with us.’
  ‘Her?’ Sad-case exclaimed with revulsion.
  ‘Me?’ Sarah exclaimed with horror.
  ‘She’s a girl.’
‘I can see that.’ The woman seemed to be getting upset. ‘And just because she’s a girl doesn’t mitigate the fact.’ Neither of them had any idea what that meant.
‘She’ll just mess things up.’ Sad-case said nastily. ‘Girls always do.’ Now the alien police person frowned. Was this upsetting her views of women’s lib?
‘She has just as much right to be in serious trouble as you.’
‘More!’ Sarah agreed in just the same aggrieved tone.

And that's just the beginning. Sad-case is really going to get it in the neck shortly.

  5. Yes! Besides, girls just want to have fun. Love the writing. Sad Case will make enough trouble to drive the girls crazy though.

  6. It was difficult staying with the plot because there was so much fodder for just those two alone.
