Almost finished

Thirty pages to do until my horror novel is finished. These last few chapters have been the most difficult. It's been hard knowing what to say without irritating the British government. This is just a work of fiction but there's always someone guaranteed to take offence. I'll just have to include a pretty encompassing disclaimer page at the beginning.I had a nasty idea of what might happen if I annoy them too much. Or anyone else for that matter.

It's one of my early ones but I'm quite proud of the hand.

I've even left it open for a second book which I have no intention of writing.Although I had a pretty good idea a couple of hours ago about mutant slugs. it's probably been done before, so I'll have to do some research.

So as soon as it's done and it's up on Kindle and in paperback I'm going to do something I haven't done for years. That's to stop writing and actually spend some time publicising the four books I've put up. I've scoured the blogs and Google and I think I'll try most of them. There's no point in writing all these books without a token attempt to sell some of them. It might be that my writing is complete rubbish. I like to think that some of it's good but I'm practical enough to realise that not all of it is so. It's just a pity that some of the people who downloaded the free copies of Hoodies and Geezers didn't let me know what they thought. I'm a big boy now and can take the criticism.

Oh, well back to the last thirty five pages.

  1. Hmm - your dilemma sounds interesting - freedom of speech springs to mind!
Great painting - the glowing colours are very effective.

Just to let you know also that my copy of the Three Hoodies arrived on Thurs. At the moment I'm busy reading another book a friend leant me and wanted an opinion on. I'm in two minds whether to let my son read the Hoodies first, or keep it for myself. Either way I'll let you know what we both thought of it so you'll be getting the viewpoint of two diametrically opposed generations!

    1. You can feel free to give it to your sons without inspecting it first. There's nothing there that you would find offensive. Hopefully just funny.

    2. Its not that - I trust you! Its just that I've been looking forward to the book arriving since I ordered it so I want to grab it first!

  2. I like the hand as well. Does it belong to God...that would definitely irritate the Government.

    1. At first it was my wife's hand, but we patched things up.

  3. like the picture :)

I'm where you are - I need to do some promotions, though I also need to do some writing. I am actually contemplating taking a real hiatus from book covers for a couple of months. Sadly that will put a wallop in my income, though, so not sure I can afford it, as the book covers pay more than the writing :(

    1. Your book covers are gorgeous. But you must do what you feel best. I should stop painting my own covers because as good as I thought I was, I know a pro could do a far better job. My hope that the content would make up for the cover has not come to pass.

  4. Nice pic. Well, I'm a fan of yours, so I can't imagine that you'd get many bad reviews.

    1. You're very kind as always. I haven't had any bad reviews. In fact apart from your very kind review I've had none at all.
